How to get beautiful wedding skin

Every bride wants their skin to look glowing on their wedding day.

Whether you opt for dewy and natural or all-out cosmetic drama, the overall impact of your bridal make-up starts with healthy flawless skin.

That’s why now is the time to get on top of your skincare routine and give yourself as long as possible to get that enviable glow.

Make-up artists Leslie from Leslie Sneddon Makeup Artistry and Lesley from Pamper & Polish let us in on their secrets.

Beauty comes from within

You may just be engaged but it’s never too early to get your wedding make-up artist booked. In fact, Lesley McCormick of Pamper & Polish encourages brides to book their MUA as soon as they book their wedding.

“A make-up artist is one of your main suppliers, so it is crucial you book the one you want as soon as you have decided who you would like to book,” she says.

Once you have booked in with Lesley she likes to find out about your skincare routine, products and any skin concerns you have as this all has an impact on how radiant and glowing your skin and make-up will look on your wedding day.

“I know clear and radiant skin comes from the inside out and by improving the body’s natural function and healing abilities your skin can become more toned, smoother, clearer and radiant than you can achieve by using products alone or by invasive facials and medical aesthetics,” she says.

“I encourage my brides to stop confusing their skin with using too many products and to start to protect and enhance their skin barrier by doing regular facial massage and facial Gua Sha.

“You wouldn’t believe the positive difference these techniques can make to your skin health!”

Lesley advocates the power of Gua Sha so much that she sells crystal facial Gua Sha stones on her website to massage over the face, neck and décolletage for lymph flow stimulation, connective tissue release and muscle toning.

However, she says correct technique is vital and has demonstration tutorials on her Instagram.

Hydration, hydration, hydration

For Leslie Sneddon diet is the obvious starting point for healthy glowing skin.

“Not everyone is a H2O lover and that is the single most important start for glowing skin,” she says.

“I would then move onto diet and make sure to ask them to avoid refined sugar and alcohol in the weeks leading up to the wedding.”

She also encourages supplements as a fantastic way to add to a healthy varied diet and highly recommends Aurelia’s Immune Support.

Pre-wedding prep

Cosmetic procedures have begun to feature more and more in many brides’ wedding countdown with the likes of dermaplaning, microneedling and a bit of botox not being uncommon.

However, Leslie Sneddon warns brides considering a procedure to give themselves plenty of time.

“If you want to go to a skin specialist make sure it’s around three to six months before your wedding so your skin can recover from any intense treatments,” she says.

If that all sounds a bit much though you can always go down the more traditional products route.

“I always swear by a good facial oil,” says Leslie. “You can find huge varieties online from inexpensive to top shelf.

“I adore Sunday Riley’s Juno Oil. It’s stunning on the skin and smells fantastic.

“Just pat onto the skin before your night-time moisturiser to wake up to glowing skin!”
