A stunning autumnal elopement styled photoshoot by Kim Dalglish Florist

If lockdown showed us anything it was the limitless talent of florists, co-ordinators and crafty couples.

We’ve been struck by the range of gorgeous wedding set-ups and beautiful tablescapes, even when weddings were at their tiniest.

Just take this stunning styled shoot by Aberdeen-based florist Kim Dalglish as an example.

Kim teamed up with photographer Emma Lawson and we’re actually a little bit in love with the result.

“The inspiration was the guidelines on Covid-19 weddings [at the time of the shoot],” explains Kim. “With 20 guests maximum we just wanted to shine a light on how a tiny wedding or elopement can be incredible!

“It showcases an elopement table for two in the Scottish countryside.”

With Emma behind the lens, Kim organised all the styling, using dahlias, rudbeckia, scabious, cosmos, phlox and garden roses combined with eucalyptus, olive, jasmine and miscanthus, all grown locally in Aberdeenshire.

The props also came from Kim’s wide range of hired wares.

The informal set-up with its draped tablecloth, array of candles and unstructured blooms is a look Kim predicts will be big in the months ahead.

“I think we will see a lot of colour next year, lots of bright, happy flowers to shout from the rooftops that there’s a wedding!” she says.

“And I think we will keep the relaxed and natural vibe. I think any celebration will be a little more informal so a laid-back, eclectic look would suit.”

To recreate the vibe of this shoot Kim recommends asking your florist to go with seasonal flowers – “and not to be too picky!”

“Seasonal flowers will always look the best and be a little more cost effective too, compared to ordering something more exotic,” she says.

“Give your florist a couple of ideas and colour combos and let them run with it. You have chosen your florist for a reason so let them go for it!”
