Bohemian style on show in Mirka Bridal Couture’s latest offering
Intricate lace and light, flowing silhouettes take centre stage in the latest collection from Kirkcaldy-based designer Mirka Bridal Couture.
“My latest collection is very bohemian,” designer Mirka tells us.
“I simply love this style as it has no rules to obey and there is freedom to express emotions.”
Mirka believes her inspiration for this latest collection was in part affected by Covid-19 and the resultant changes faced by the wedding industry.
“Due to the growing popularity of small and intimate weddings, often held outside, brides began to seek dresses which are more relaxed and undone whilst remaining comfortable, romantic and passionate,” she says.
“Most importantly, it’s a style which I love and feel strongly about.
“A style which allows me to express myself.”
Mirka Bridal Couture was recently crowned the Best Bespoke Bridal Boutique 2021 – in Scotland and it’s easy to see why so many brides are attracted to their designs.
“I don’t think there is one specific group that my style appeals more to,” says Mirka.
“Although, I think that brides-to-be with a free spirit, an unconventional or artistic type of personality are likely to be drawn to the bohemian style of my newest collection.”
In the words of the designer these gowns are the perfect balance of opulence and comfort; fancy enough for the most high-end venue while light and airy enough for brides wishing to elope abroad.
Here are just a few of our faves…
Ciana
Handmade from floral organza with a nude underlay, the semi-sheer nature of Ciana, makes it playful with a sultry edge. We’re in love with the cute off the shoulder floral arm bands and delicate beading.
Dawn
Talk about a statement dress! Dawn’s combination of dropped waist, flowing skirt and unique cut-out details make it a definite head-turner. Add to that the use of Guipure and French lace with Guipure tape detailing and you get one bold all-eyes-on-me gown.
Honey
Honey’s three-dimension floral Guipure lace, front slit and beautiful cut-out back make for a striking silhouette. The removable sleeves transform this into a totally different dress, giving you options to change it up between your ceremony and reception.
June
Not one for the faint-hearted, June is made for brides with a daring side. The beaded lace and expertly placed cut-outs accentuate your figure and give you curves in all the right places. But if you favour a slightly more subtle look there’s the option to have it lined in white fabric.
Lucy
Just picture yourself saying “I do” in a breezy beach ceremony in this bohemian number. The floating white muslin skirt, cute v-neck, open back and spaghetti straps create a carefree feel, dressed up with the beautiful floral lace appliqué detailing.
Rosa
Why settle for one lace when you could have two? Rosa juxtaposes the soft and luxurious floral classic lace with the more contemporary burnout style rose pattern. Talk about whimsy.
Serena
Possibly our favourite from the entire collection we’ve fallen in love with Serena’s beautiful crystal appliqué. The plunging neckline and low-cut back flow into the beautiful floating satin skirt, cinched in with a delicate silk belt. Exquisite.
Skye
Just imagine taking to the dancefloor for your first dance as a mrs in this gorgeous creation. More to the point, try getting us back off it. This perfect combination of Guipure lace and diaphanous chiffon just makes us want to kick off our shoes.
Thalia
Oozing sex appeal, Thalia again blends Gipure and French lace, to stunning effect. The low V-neck and front slit are counterbalanced by elegant long sleeves, keeping things classy and chic.
Zelda
If you’re looking for a feminine fishtail Zelda is the dress for you. With its low v-neckline, figure-hugging silhouette and luxurious beading it’s simply breathtaking.
