Debbie and her groom-to-be Andrew are getting married next April at The Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh and they’re on a serious countdown now!

They’re sharing all their wedding planning with us at Your Scottish Wedding and so far they’ve told us all about the proposal and finding the perfect setting for their big day.

So now it’s on to wedding dress shopping and how “The One” turned out not to be….

Great expectations

“I had a very clear picture in my head and a designer in mind,” explains Debbie. She had spied the Farida gown by Modeca and had her heart set on it.

But when she tried it on it just wasn’t to be.

“Having just had a baby a few months prior my body disagreed!” she remembers.

That was during her first day of dress shopping and despite the set back she had a great day drinking fizz and trying on the dresses with hew mum and two bridesmaids along for moral support.

The ‘Farida’ dress that wasn’t to be

After the let down of the first dress turning out to be a no, she tried on more and thought she had found the perfect gown in the first boutique but wisely decided not to rush into buying the first one she liked.

“A friend recommended we try Gwenne in Edinburgh and that’s where I ended up buying my classic Justin Alexander gown,” she says.

“When I put it on, I knew it was the one!

“It was actually Gwenne the shop owner who suggested I try it on and I’m so glad she did! She really knows what will suit her brides.

“It was so different to all the other dresses I had tried on and I instantly loved it!”

But with just months to go this bride’s not letting anything slip.

“It’s a classic Justin Alexander dress – I’m afraid that’s all I can reveal!” she smiles.

“My two bridesmaids haven’t even seen it yet and I’m so looking forward to doing the big reveal on the day.”

The complete look

Debbie’s decided to keep her accessories simple with diamond earrings and these killer heels by Badgely Mischka from Sophia Grace Couture.

And so her girls look the part, this stylish bride is dressing her ‘maids in long plum dresses.
